BOUQUETS |
The bouquet is a timeless piece yet unrelentingly
chic at any wedding ceremony. For the bride, this is
one of the most important pieces of the wedding. For
the unmarried female guests after the reception, the traditional
bridal bouquet toss predicts who amongst our friends will get married
next.
It's important to note that bouquets have
been a part of the marriage ceremony in Europe and the Americas
since the 15th century. Throughout the years the styles
have ranged from longer, splashing multi-flora nosegays
to short bunches of roses. For the contemporary bride,
it's purely a matter of choice; however, many modern bouquets
are created using a variety of in-season flowers which match the colors
of the other wedding flora, the height of the bride, and the flower of choice used in the groomsman's boutonniere. Rose bouquets can
be done year round while tropical bouquets may only
make sense in a summer or late spring setting. For ceremonies
during the early spring and winter months, greens are
often considered by the bride to accent the seasonal flowers. Fall
wedding bouquets can accent the rich burgundy and gold tones found
in that season, whereas a spring bouquet will highlight
the pastel palette found in the eve of summer.
The current trend
is a longstemmed bouquet, light with simplicity. This
is for a few reasons, but mainly because the wedding
flower modern art emphasis has been on the vased altar
arrangements and reception centerpieces. Lighter bouquets are also easier
to carry and lengthier stems give the bride more balance when holding the
bouquet. This design look also bridges the artform from the early century
nosegay designs to the newer, fuller styled bouquets. We also see
a trend of adding additional elements, like
a bouquet basket, a vee-neck ribbon tie and many other
accoutrements which we offer uniquely to our
wedding floral clientele.
